THE NEED

Color is often an indication of quality. Sugar liquor, diesel fuel, motor oil, water, beer, and vegetable oil are all examples of liquids whose purity or quality are indicated by their color. Industry has developed a wide variety of color scales for the production of these products. This variety includes ASTM, Saybolt, ICUMSA, APHA, Pt-Co, and Hazen color scales among others.

Continuous manufacturing of these products requires a continuous monitoring of the final product's color in order to ensure the process is operating as needed. The color analyzer must often be suitable for high temperatures, pressures, and hazardous locations among other application-specific requirements.
